St Joseph's Academy, East Ayrshire

Pupils and staff at Saint Joseph’s Academy are always super keen to celebrate the linguistic and cultural diversity within our community. 

S6 Language ambassadors were leading learning by teaching a language lesson of their choice! We were very lucky to be taught some Korean, Polish, BSL, Spanish and more! What a talented lot they are! 

It has also been great to hear our daily morning tannoy announcement in multiple languages, for example, Dutch, Italian, Bulgarian and Portuguese. A great way to celebrate some of the languages in our community. 

And any excuse for some of our S1 and S2 pupils to show-off their dance skills with a multilingual Just Dance lunch club. Some super impressive moves! 

Staff also came together for a European-themed break-time feast and got very competitive with an online Quizizz about languages spoken in our school community. 

Pupils and staff had a great time celebrating European day of Languages, and learning about the languages within our community in particular.
